Lumpkin County's Cal Faulkner plans to enroll at Georgia Tech and play in 2025

Georgia Tech recently secured a prized verbal commitment from senior QB Cal Faulkner of Lumpkin County High School.

Faulkner had a spectacular junior year playing QB for the Indians in 2023, leading his team to a best-ever 12-1 record. He was named 2023 7-AAA Player of the Year by the AJC.

He returns for his senior season in Dahlonega, with Lumpkin Head Coach Heath Webb looking forward to another season with Faulner at QB.

Faulkner played at WR as a sophomore in 2022 and Georgia Tech projects him as a wideout at the college level.

At 6-1, 185 lbs, and with a 4.5 40 time, Faulkner has the athletic ability to contribute at a number of positions. He played some defensive backfield in 2023, in addition to QB . As for his personal preference, Faulkner wants to play "whatever position gets me on the field" at Tech.

Lumpkin County Head Coach Heath Webb salutes Faulkner's leadership and competitiveness and predicts that he will do well at with the Jackets.

Faulkner also received attention from a number of other schools including Wake Forest, Cincinnati, Auburn, Georgia State , Air Force and Navy. He plans to major in business at Georgia Tech.

Another Lumpkin High graduate, PK Wesley Wells played for the Jackets in 2018 and 2019, under Paul Johnson and Geoff Collins respectively.
