Georgia Tech's secondary returns significant experience for the 2024 season. The overall depth is not stout, but the front line players are back in force.

At the cornerback position, Ahmari Harvey returns and he's bringing his big play potential with him. Last year, Harvey had three interceptions--one each against Miami, Boston College and Central Florida. Of course, all picks are big plays but the 2023 season showed well Harvey's knack for producing big plays in the biggest moments. When asked at Tuesday's post- practice press conference about his tendency to make those important plays, Harvey's face lit up into a broad grin.

" I've been doing this...humbly, I've been doing this since I was a kid. ", he declared.

"High school, game- winning Hail Mary's, I don't know. It's just that fourth quarter. It brings something out in me", said Harvey.

His first interception in 2023 came against Miami in Tech's still incredible upset of the Hurricanes in Coral Gables last October. That third quarter feat preceded a Tech touchdown that set up the miraculous play in the waning moments when Tech QB Haynes King found WR Christian Leary for the late go- ahead score.

Harvey also had a late game interception in the Gasparilla Bowl win over Central Florida and QB John Rhys- Plumlee . But perhaps his most consequential single play was a thunderous hit against UNC wideout Tez Walker . Harvey's collision caused the fumble by Walker that stopped cold the Tarheels' promising late- game drive by QB Drake Maye . It effectively clinched a dramatic Tech win.

Harvey has garnered praise from Brent Key for his play this spring, including last week when he said Harvey was "......playing with a lot of confidence".

The 180 pound 6 footer , a redshirt junior from Tallahassee is looking forward to many more big plays in 2024.

" When my back's to the wall and I've got to fight through, I just like to be at moments like that", Harvey said, describing his zeal for the game's biggest moments. Certainly Brent Key likes a cornerback who likes those situations. What coach wouldn't?
