McDuffie Is Eager To Hit The Ground Running For Georgia Tech

Georgia Tech’s football roster has undergone great changes as the 2022 season approaches. Among the groups most affected were the running backs. With Jahmyr Gibbs transferring to Alabama, Jamious Griffin heading to Oregon State and Jordan Mason opting to go to the NFL, Dontae Smith was the only Yellow Jacket running back returning with significant experience.

Enter Dylan McDuffie. Following a productive career at University of Buffalo, McDuffie chose to come to Tech after a visit earlier in the year.

At Buffalo, McDuffie had a very productive 4th year, rushing for 1049 yards with 5.2 average yards per carry and 11 touchdowns. He also caught 14 passes for 123 yards and one score. After completing his undergraduate work at Buffalo, McDuffie was ready to transfer for graduate work and more football.

He quickly found a comfortable fit at Georgia Tech. After his visit to Atlanta, McDuffie made his decision and dropped consideration of other programs he had been looking at. He cited the academic opportunity afforded by his Masters course work at Tech, as well as the city of Atlanta itself as strong reasons for his decision. But when asked the main reason why he chose Tech, McDuffie’s answer was simple.

“The guys” he said. He felt an immediate comfort with his new teammates-to-be and that was his primary factor.

As for his role on the team, McDuffie feels confident he can contribute and he is eager to do so however possible. When asked if he is comfortable catching the ball out of the backfield, he answered ” Absolutely “. His record at Buffalo backs that up, with those 14 catches last year for over 8 yards per catch and one score.

Overall, Dylan made it clear that he wants to help the team however he can. With some openings in the running back group and a new offensive coordinator in Chip Long who plays with a “run first” philosophy, McDuffie should have a strong shot to display his talents as a Yellow Jacket in 2022.
