RSW: Chip Long hired as OC, two more Jackets depart

Another big week in off-the-field news, as Tech hires Chip Long to replace recently-dismissed Dave Patenaude at offensive coordinator and two more Jackets are leaving the Flats.

According to reporting by the AJC’s Ken Sugiura, Long will receive double the pay of his predecessor and become Tech’s highest-paid assistant, fetching $1.65M over two years.

After successful stops at Memphis (2016) and Notre Dame (2017-19), Long served as offensive analyst at Tennessee in 2020 before moving back into the OC role for the Green Waves in 2021.
