Chip Long hired as Jackets' offensive coordinator

Tech announced the hiring of Chip Long as offensive coordinator (OC) on Sunday, bringing the experienced coordinator over from Tulane for the 2022 season. After successful stops at Memphis (2016) and Notre Dame (2017-19), Long served as offensive analyst at Tennessee in 2020 before moving back into the OC role for the Green Waves in 2021.

During his three seasons at Notre Dame, the Irish went 32-6 and earned a berth in the 2018 College Football Playoff. He’ll have a tough road ahead on the Flats, trying to turn around a struggling program with a shrinking running backfield without its best weapon, Jahmyr Gibbs, who will be transferring.
