Greenjackets Enjoy Walk-off Win Over Fireflies
In the world of business, big investments are meant to bring big rewards. That formula worked well for Augusta Friday night as former 1st round draft pick Heliot Ramos singled in the winning run in the 10th inning. His big hit scored Trevor Abrams from 2nd base, who slid home under the throw to grab the win and set off a frenzied celebration among his teammates.
Moments earlier, Greenjacket Ismael Munguia lofted a sacrifice fly to right, scoring Logan Baldwin from third to tie the game at 1-1. The visitors from Columbia had scored the game’s first run in the top of the 10th.
Ramos, from Puerto Rico, was the 1st round draft pick of the parent club San Francisco for the 2017 draft. He was the 19th pick overall in the draft, signing for 3.1 million a few months before his 18th birthday.
The dramatic victory brought the Augusta club’s record to 14-21 in the 2nd half. The Greenjackets had completed the first half of their 2018 South Atlantic League season tied for 2nd with a 37-31 mark.
